Waste 4 Fuel

Local Conservative MPs Bob Neill (Bromley & Chislehurst), James Brokenshire (Old Bexley & Sidcup) and Jo Johnson (Orpington) have warmly welcomed the news that the Waste 4 Fuel site will be cleared. The three MPs have maintained pressure to see that the situation was resolved, holding regular meetings with the Environment Agency and Ministers at the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs.

Bob Neill raises his objections to intrusive sports pitch

A number of residents have recently contacted me about an application to build a 3G sports pitch in the grounds of Kemnal Technology College. The proposal, which goes before the Plans Sub-Committee at Bromley Council on Thursday 2 April, would be jointly funded by the FA and the Football Foundation and would be expected to provide at least 85 hours of use over a 7 day week.

Local unemployment almost halved over the course of this Parliament

Figures released today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that unemployment levels in Bromley and Chislehurst have fallen by 49% during the course of this Parliament. There are now 521 fewer people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in the constituency than there were this time last year, and 35 fewer than last month.

Bob Neill condemns steep rise in off-peak fare

As many of you will have noticed first hand, there has been a dramatic increase in the price of an off-peak travelcard since January, with prices rising over 30 per cent for adults travelling to or from outer London zones. Quite understandably, this unreasonable hike in fares has dismayed a large number of residents across Bromley and Chislehurst, many of whom are reliant on the local rail provision to get from A to B on a regular basis.
