WASPI campaign: next steps

Since my last update on 13 May, the WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) APPG has continued its active lobbying of government to push for fair transitional arrangements for women affected by changes included in the 2011 Pensions Act.

With Michael Gove, who I supported, having now been eliminated from the leadership contest, I will be giving my full support to Theresa May. Michael had a lot to offer, and I am sure that he will continue to play a big role in the service of the Conservative Party and our country.

Lidl to sell Porcupine site

Justice Committee publishes report on prison safety

Having considered the most recent safety in custody statistics, the Justice Select Committee, which I chair, published a report on Monday calling on the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) to produce a joint action plan to tackle the factors underlying the rises in violence, self-harm and suicide in our prisons.

Bob leads debate on education funding in London

In one of my roles in Westminster I co-Chair the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for London, which since its inception shortly after the General Election last May has been used by MPs from both sides of the House to raise important London based concerns with the Government in a cross-party, non-partisan fashion.
