Borough Councillor for Chislehurst
Ian Payne was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, and is married with four children. A Qualified Chef, Ian worked as an Executive Hotel Manager before joining the Salvation Army in 1979.
As an Ordained Salvation Army Minister Ian was a church leader for 22 years and went on to become head of Public Relations in the West Midlands, then Assistant Head of Marketing and Fund Raising for the UK & Ireland. Ian was appointed as the first Town Chaplain in Bromley, during which time he spent 4 months in Sri Lanka working for the Salvation Army Emergency Team before becoming the Bromley Town Centre Manager. He currently runs the Bexleyheath Business Improvement District.
In his spare time Ian enjoys actively working for Charities, he is currently the Chairman of 'The Breast of Bromley' Cancer Campaign. He also enjoys music, theatre, reading, meeting people and spending time with his granchildren and family.
Ian was appoined Mayor of Bromley 2016/2017.
